Fort Riley Infantryman under arrest for sending bomb making instructions

...to right-wing Ukrainians:
A soldier with the 1st Infantry Division has been charged with sending instructions for making a bomb over social media, some of which would have resulted in viable explosives, and were sent with the knowledge that they could be used to target politicians, according to the Department of Justice.
Spc. Jarrett William Smith, 24, was arrested Saturday and charged with one count of distributing information related to explosives and weapons of mass destruction. He was serving at the time of his arrest as an infantryman with the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, at Fort Riley, Kansas.
Smith admitted during the arrest that he knows how to make improvised explosive devices, and that in online chat rooms he routinely provides instructions on building explosive devices, according to Department of Justice documents.
“Smith stated that he did this to cause ‘chaos,’” the arresting FBI special agent wrote in a criminal complaint. “He told me that if chaos results in the death of people, even through information he provided, it doesn’t affect him.”
He's alleged to have sent the stuff to the "Azov Battalion" which according to wiki:
In 2014, it gained notoriety after allegations emerged of torture and war crimes, as well as neo-Nazi sympathies and usage of associated symbols by the regiment itself, as seen in their logo featuring the Wolfsangel, one of the original symbols used by the German Nazi Party. In 2014, around 10-20% of the unit were neo-Nazis.
Wiki's source on that was this article, from the Ottoqa Citizen:
The regiment originated as a national socialist group called “Patriot of Ukraine.” Its websites praised white supremacy, racial purity, and the need for authoritarian power.
Andriy Biletsky, a top Azov commander, founded the original organization; local media outlets covered several violent incidents in which the group was involved.
Some of the regiment’s fighters have been photographed wearing Nazi symbols. The group’s own flag is an inverted Wolfangel symbol, which was used by the Waffin SS.
They are Slavic symbols that Hitler’s Germany appropriated, Alferov insisted.
Allegedly he also wanted to stage stateside attacks against CNN and Antifa:
Not a great look for the Army. I'm eager to see how this plays out.
You can read the criminal complaint HERE.

good job DOJ!
BZ to the DOJ for stopping this wannabe terrorist before he could hurt anyone. The danger of right-wing extremism can't be understated, and taking firm action against bad actors like this guy is paramount to keeping Americans safe.
Let's just hope no right-wing trolls start commenting on this story. Or maybe hope they do, so they can be reported to the FBI for monitoring.

Military justice
Whatever happened to the Muslim Army major who killed & wounded several soldiers at one of our western bases during the Obama administration. I don't remember seeing any completion to that case.

Faux Conspiracy
You mean Army Major Nidal Hassan, who was American born? He was sentenced to death in 2013 for the killing of 13 people at Fort Hood.
A quick Google search would have uncovered that, but that wasnt the point of your post was it?

IEDs
Our president & people of congress need to start working together for the whole country, not just for each individual’s own ideology or their party, but instead for the common good. That’s what I the past has made the US the place where people from the world over have wanted to live here. We have become a nation of greed & my way or the highway, or worse yet, bang, bang you’re dead so now I don’t have to contend with you anymore. Please, let’s all of us get back to working together.

The guy is a "DumbA^^ Private
The guy is a "DumbA^^ Private" we all have had one in our Squad or Platoon. Likely barely made it through Basic/AIT/OSUT, marginal on PT, doesn't fit in real well. Maybe did not have a positive male role model in his life growing up.
OTOH we have Progressive Leftist and Entertainers like Madonna saying in a speech they want to blow up the White House, because they don't like the current POTUS.
Overall this is not much of a story.

Arrest half of Hollywood for Treason
It sounds like he was providing IED info to foreign nationals. There must be some law against that, we could arrest half of Hollywood for treason if we really wanted to enforce our laws. There are more than a few nut jobs in Hollywood that certainly have called for killing our constitutionally elected president. They need to be charged with high treason & sent to Leavenworth. One bad apple soldier (likely a nut job) will draw more CNN disdain for America's military than crazy women holding up Trump's severed head. The socialist injustice warrior culture has permeated America's media with designs on destroying America. This post is likely to flush out the nut jobs en masse.

You should really spend some
You should really spend some time studying our constitution, particularly Article III, Section 3. In short, treason only applies to a citizen waging war against the United States or assisting a foreign enemy in waging war against the United States. It does not apply to political rhetoric or disagreement with our government. The authors of our Constitution purposely included this strict definition of treason, making it the only specific crime mentioned in the constitution, to protect citizens against the very claim made by you against a specific person or group that you do not agree with. Treason is the most misused, overused, and misunderstood word thrown around today.

Fighting socialism
I have not seen one comment from staff about supporting our Commander-in-Chief in his fight to block the far left in their attempt to over our government.
Where does this organization stand?

As a member of TAL Staff I
As a member of TAL Staff I can say that we have no resolution on this issue, and absent a resolution, we are not allowed to speak on any such topic. If you wish the Legion to take a position, you must do it through the resolition process. Write one up, get it passed at the post, get it passed at Department, and then your National Executive Committeeman will bring it to the National level. This is how we get positions, not based on what staff thinks on any given issue.

Non-partisan
I would hope this organization stays non-partisan and focuses on facts affecting servicemembers and veterans...as they have. TAL should not be taking political sides, but rather supporting legislation, which benefits their members...as they have. Last I checked TAL is about the military and not about R's or D's.
