On Saturday, Wreaths Across America Day, volunteers needed at Arlington National Cemetery and elsewhere

Once again Wreaths Across America has met its fundraising goals and will be putting a wreath on every grave at Arlington:

It's a long-running tradition: providing seasonal wreaths for veterans' gravesites at Arlington National Cemetery. Still, it looked as though more than 35,000 graves were going to start the holidays without a wreath this year.

But on Thursday, the nonprofit Wreaths Across America announced it had met its goal — with some timely aid from the public. “We are able to place a wreath at every single veteran’s grave at Arlington National Cemetery this year,” Bre Kingsbury, of Wreaths Across America, told “Fox & Friends.”

Volunteers for the Maine-based nonprofit organization have placed a wreath at every U.S. veteran’s tombstone at Arlington National for a quarter-century.

It’s a wonderful program, and the wreaths look stunning all over Arlington.   But now they need volunteers to help distribute them.  And it’s not only at Arlington, per the FoxNews report:

“Now that we are so blessed to have enough wreaths at Arlington, and at many of our other 1,300 participating locations across the country … now it’s all about volunteering,” Kingsbury said.

If you want to volunteer, there is more information on the Wreath Across America website:

For those wanting to observe the arrival of the Wreath Truck Convoy, which will arrive at approximately 7:45am on Saturday, ANC will begin their screening process at 7:00am at the ANC Welcome Center. Those screened early will be directed to holding areas near the Opening Ceremony location which will be held in front of the Women In Military Service for America Memorial at the end of Memorial Drive starting at 8:15am.  All gates into Arlington Cemetery grounds will be opened to the general public at 8:30am after all Wreaths Convoy Trucks have been staged. Wreath placement will begin at 9:15am.
