Thule: The Air Force Base at the top of the world

As most of you know, I have been doing a series of embeds with US units and then writing about it in the magazine.  I did the Army in Afghanistan, and then the USMC in Senegal.  My latest one is going to be an embed with the men and women of Thule Air Force Base in northern (and I do mean northern) Greenland.

Anyway, as part of my research, I came across these videos that I wanted to share with you so you can see what the US went through to build a base up there.

I was stationed there 7/58-6/59 as a radar repairman in the Army. I then worked TDY at the TV station atop South Mountain with 2 Air Force guys and an RCA rep for the Dew Line

I have a one page article from th Sunday NY News 10-16-1955 about the V station at the base. If you are interested I can send you a jpeg of the page.
