Iraq/A-Stan Amputees vs. NFL Stars in Flag Football

An amazing event.

As I alluded to on Tuesday, last night I went to a flag football game between amputee veterans of the War on Terror versus NFL Stars. Sponsored by Washington National Insurance Company, the game pitted the men of the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team against such NFL luminaries as former Colts QB Jeff George, Viet Nam Veteran and Pittsburgh Steeler great Rocky Bleier, legendary Coach Dick Vermeil, and a host of other NFL stars from the recent past.

ESPN Sportscenter is running a story on the event at 8AM on Saturday, and I hope to get a copy of that video coverage to share with you when it comes out.  For now, here are some pictures from the game, which the Wounded Warriors won, with perhaps a few favorable calls from the referees.

(Today I am off to the Super Bowl Village where the NFL is honoring the Real Super Heroes of our military.)

News from the World of Military and Veterans Issues. Iraq and A-Stan in parenthesis reflects that the author is currently deployed to that theater.
